Prepare for Homeownership

We help individuals and families understand the homebuying process and prepare prospective homebuyers for the responsibilities of homeownership.

Our HUD-certified counselors review income, expenses, and credit to help you determine housing affordability, understand the loan application process, and prepare for sustainable homeownership. Counselors help you access homebuying incentives such as down payment assistance and closing cost assistance. They also provide direction on selecting housing professionals to work with during the process.

We offer workshops, one-on-one sessions, and support for your homebuying journey.

How do I get started?

A one-on-one session with a counselor will help you plan your journey to homeownership.

One-on-one sessions are scheduled Monday through Thursday between 10 am and 4 pm, and appointments vary from one to two hours. In this session, we will gain an understanding of your priorities, assess your credit, support your budget process, and prepare your for mortgage pre-approval.

Group Workshops:

When you are ready, group workshops are held twice each month and require advance registration. We will explore the entire homebuying process and you will be able to speak directly with homebuying professionals, including real estate agents, mortgage lenders, home inspectors, and homeowners’ insurance agents.

Ongoing counseling is available until you reach your homebuying goals. You will receive a certificate following the completion of the one-on-one session and group workshop.
