Job Title: Homesharing Counselor
Organizational Information
St. Ambrose Housing Aid Center, Inc., Baltimore’s oldest housing assistance program, provides homeownership counseling, homesharing, default mortgage counseling, legal representation, affordable rental housing, and housing development services to approximately 3,500 low and moderate income clients per year. The Homesharing Program has been in existence since 1989, matching homeowners who have extra room in their homes with persons looking for affordable housing. To date, 1,180 matches have been made.
Position Description
The Homesharing Counselor will:
- Interview homeowners and persons looking for housing, check references, and make appropriate referrals;
- Negotiate match agreements when two parties decide to move in together;
- Explore new marketing strategies to reach appropriate homesharers and homeseekers;
- Conduct outreach to promote homesharing services including workshops to community organizations, senior centers, hospitals, and other possible groups;
- Research activities in the community that might be open to homesharing;
- Assist with cultivating and training volunteers;
- Maintain and monitor client files and data; and
- Assist with gathering statistics needed for grants to Homesharing.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree and experience dealing with the public.
- Strong communication, counseling and computer skills a must

Salary Range
