The mission of St. Ambrose Housing Aid Center is to create and maintain equal housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income people, primarily in Baltimore City, and to encourage and support strong and diverse neighborhoods.
Since its founding in 1968, St. Ambrose has been committed to providing innovative, comprehensive housing services and quality affordable homes to meet the challenges facing vulnerable homeowners and neighborhoods.
What's New
- The celebration continues: St. Ambrose kicks off NeighborWorks Paints Week with a series of neighborhood block parties—Saturday, June 7, 2008. Details
- A Story from Vinnie Quayle: Some friends of mine who run a kitchen that feeds the homeless in West Baltimore gave me a poster exclaiming "The Temple Stands Unfinished Until ALL Are Housed In Dignity." It hangs in my office and inspires our efforts here at St. Ambrose. Oscar Romero, the Archbishop of El Salvador, is attributed with saying this as he and a group of activists stood in front of the heavy machinery that was going to tear down homes to build a new cathedral.
Today, this command rings true more than ever. As Baltimore families find themselves in danger of losing their homes or unable to find suitable affordable housing to shelter their families, St. Ambrose continues to strive to assure that ALL are housed in dignity. Please help us by donating now.
- Every Minute Counts: St. Ambrose has established a new partnership with Baltimore City's 311 call center. Baltimore home owners facing foreclosure can now call 311, where operators will direct them to St. Ambrose counselors. Article
